'On The Road' Very Likely to be Shown at Venice Film Festival

The 68th Venice Film Festival has released its initial program for premieres at the 2011 event, August 31-September 10, with several highly-anticipated films by Roman Polanski, David Cronenberg, Todd Solondz and Michael Winterbottom set for screening.

Some films which didn’t make Cannes in time are rushing to complete post-production in order to meet the submission deadline, June 24, and others await a decision.

Highlights among the early lineup of films include: …. Also, possibly vying for inclusion are George Clooney’s film, The Ides of March, which he directed and costars in with Ryan Gosling, and Walter Salles‘s On the Road about Jack Kerouac’s trip across America starring Kristen Stewart (‘Twlight Saga’) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy). ….

MK2 magazine interview with Eric Gautier (Director of Photography for On The Road)

After The Motorcycle Diaries, you joined Walter Salles again for On The Road. In what way do these 2 road-trips respond to each other?

For The Motorcycle Diaries, we carefully followed Guevara’s exact itinerary in Latin America. It was a trip which took the form of an opening to the world. On the road, on the contrary, is a inner journey: the destination doesn’t matter, what matters is the movement, the sensory experience of drugs, sex, weariness. One of the direction’s choice was to capture sensations: the cold, the heat, the fear. This meant filming the actors without makeup, very close to the faces, with long focal length. To shoot with film was obvious, because the story takes place in the early 1950s. It needed texture, grain. To transpose the novel’s spontaneity, we did hand-held shooting (camera on shoulder), leaving a great freedom of movement for actors. I wanted to keep something amateur, something imperfectly controlled technically, because the beauty in Kerouac lies in the clumsiness of the language, the breaks in the rhythm.

Garrett Hedlund Talks Kristen Stewart; Possible On The Road Release Date?

Garrett Hedlund says filming the big screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic “On The Road” with Kristen Stewart was an unforgettable experience.

“It was wonderful,” he told Access Hollywood at the 2011 Young Hollywood Awards on Saturday.

“It was such an incredible rare journey that we all got to take, so I’m very proud of it. My anticipation is just as high as every body else’s about it,” he explained of the film, based on the legendary beat generation novel where “The Twilight Saga” star plays Marylou and Garret portrays Dean Moriarity.

“Kristen’s phenomenal,” the “Tron: Legacy” star continued. “She’s so focused, especially on this role… she’s so amazing and the world is going to get to really see that in this one.”

The 26-year-old actor is happy that the film will finally hit theaters after taking years to get off the ground.

“I singed on to the role like four years ago and so for the last four years I’ve just been twiddling thumbs trying to get the thing made, and hoping for it to be made and so it’s finally done,” he told Access.

“On The Road” — which also features Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Elisabeth Moss, Steve Buscemi and Terrence Howard — is due for release on December 10, 2011.

'On The Road' Poster is a Fake

Earlier this week, blogs around the world began to publicize the poster below as the “teaser poster” of On the Road , the upcoming feature film directed by Walter Salles. They said he had been photographed during the Cannes Film Festival 2011. Since then, some newspapers also gave the news, calling for “the first movie poster On the Road. “I just saw a picture of that poster today. Exclusive Photos from Second Unit Shoot in April

This story came to our inbox along with these exclusive photos. They’re being published today for the first time anywhere at Kerouac.com.

And what a story! After wrapping filming for On The Road in San Francisco in December, 2010 Walter Salles and Garrett Hedlund took to the road for a second time in April of 2011. They spent two weeks along with a crew of five and blasted 4,000 miles across the back roads of the USA. They purposefully avoided the interstate highways not built until the 1950’s, retracing as best they could the original route of two lane roads Jack & Neal drove. // Read More at the link. Trepidations Aside, 'On The Road' Becomes A Movie At Last

Many consider Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” sacred text. The novel was, after all, originally typed on a scroll.

Translated into 40 languages, millions of copies of the Beat generation classic have sold worldwide since the novel was published in 1957, placing it among the 20th century’s most influential books.

When it comes to the big screen, however, “On the Road” has faced a Kerouac curse. Past efforts by Hollywood to adapt the author’s work have been failures.

Now, somewhat quietly, “On the Road” has finally been made into a movie. The $25 million production, shot in San Francisco, Montreal and other locales, is scheduled for release this fall. (Read More at the Link)

Do NOT reblog or post the On The Road photo anywhere!

I’ve been getting a lot of messages asking about the latest On The Road photo. My friend and owner of GarrettMinds has told me it was leaked and I will NOT support that, and you can get in very trouble if you post it ANYWHERE! Do not support this, if you reblog the photo or repost it, it’s only supporting the person who hacked and leaked the photo. To anon who asked me a question: Me deleting the photo off of my tumblr won’t delete if from your blog, you’ll have to delete it yourself (and I highly suggest you do.)

Anymore questions about this will be not be answered.
